What traditions do you hold so close to you?
We’ve all but fallen for our leisure
Safe houses and quiet gardens
Oh, Excavator
Do you only nurture when the sun is out?
The light was shining on my stature
You were at a boil
Oh, Excavator
And I named you with certainty
As if the surfaces of things
Might represent
the condition of something that is not tangible
“Why don’t you want to be found?”
This album is one of my favorite albums because of how raw and pure it sounds. The true emotion that comes from Jay's performance is more than believable and it's what helps Crywank stick as a proper musical icon. 10/10 would recommend to everyone if they were more than willing to give it a try. saintjimmy57
Traditional folk music and field recordings meld into fascinating long-form sound collages on the new LP from Shovel Dance Collective. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 6, 2022
The freak-folk collective's debut is full of rich, haunted vocals and experimental melodies derived from more traditional idioms Bandcamp Album of the Day Nov 9, 2021
Crywank with extra steps. I love these artists and nothing can take away from the fact that they have undeniably wonderful songwriting abilities but they might be better off having a engineer/producer do the recording. Still a fascinating listen with interesting experimentation and more lo-fi than Crywank had ever been. it's got a unique kind of charm to it being as d.i.y as music can possibly get but also holds it back a bit.
